From the Chair to the Right - Steve Arnold gives an update on the latest at the Grove

Our opening fixture saw us visit Corinthian which although not our best performance of late it was a winning one. The 2-1 victory being the first time Lordswood have claimed all three points in the opening day game since before 2008. Let's hope we carry the momentum that we have been building during our preseason long into our league campaign.

We followed the Corinthian victory with a second victory against Deal Town. Two wins and one goal conceded with five finding our opponents net from four different players. If we had been given that option in preseason I reckon the gaffer and I would have taken it all day long.

We are what we are. A side who most people like to write off before a ball is this season any different? Let's hope not as by the time teams realise what a transformation has gone on at the Grove it will be too late, and with a lot of hard work and commitment we will go marching on.

Myself and the gaffer, with the help of John Houston, not forgetting Sam (the gaffers lad) have recently completed a two day soccer school held here at the Grove. We were lucky with the weather and everyone who attended had a great time (well that's what they told us!)

With over 25 players attending both days it was a very good turn out. The next one has been marked in to take place on the 30th and 31st August. Contact me or the club for further details.
